But there was the question of who Warlock gave the reality gem to. Warlock kept that confidential for awhile, but it turned out to be THANOS since Thanos was of course familiar with the gems and understood the dangers of the reality gem.

Hang on: So...Warlock gives his greatest enemy - an enemy with already formidable power, an enemy whose avowed intent is to destroy all life - a device which can change all reality? Someone WROTE that? And editorial passed it?

I think...I think I see a flaw in Warlock's plan.

The Reality Gem can warp reality on a level far greater then the cosmic cubes. Thanos was rejected by Death and feeling very tempted to use the Gem to warp reality so that Death would always have loved him. However he wanted to test the gem and wanted a conscience to talk him out of the plan so he uses it to legitimately revive Captain Mar-Vell.

So...Thanos is actively looking for someone to talk him out of the plan, and on Thanos' command someone turns up and talks him out of the plan? Hmmmm.

I'm not saying it COULDN'T have been the real Captain Marvel, but it sounds a bit suspicious. Bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Wouldn't it have been easier - not to mention a whole lot safer - for Warlock to have found someone else to take care of the gem? Or just dropped all six into six different black holes?

The infinity gems are virtually indestructible, and they were once lost down a black hole along with some of the Elders of the Universe in early issues of the Silver Surfer. This was prior to Starlin arriving as the writer and bringing THANOS back.

As to THANOS, at the end of infinity gauntlet, Warlock had the gauntlet and Thanos faked his death. Warlock knew of course Thanos was alive.

Thanos had set himself up as a farmer on planet and was living a peaceful life, contemplating his existence and failures to hang on to ultimate power. Warlock told THANOS that he always gets defeated because he secretly feels unworthy of such power and tends to sow the seeds of his own defeat.

However Warlock also knew that Thanos was fully aware of the power of the gems and knew how to contain them and that few beings would dare to attack THANOS' home to claim any of the gems and that Thanos knew the risks of using the Reality Gem. Hence he was chosen to guard it.

But yes, that really was Mar-Vell that he revived with the gem.
