    I hate it.

Black Bolt should not speak. That should be like the cardinal rule for ever using the character unless he's blowing crap up with his voice. We mere mortals should not know what the King is thinking. I don't even think we should ever really get a feel for what type of personality he really has.

You'll be pretty OK (but not entirely) with how the arc ends.

But as for not knowing his personality - that right there is why we've never been able to have a Black Bolt solo book. The main protagonist has to be able to elicit empathy. Which doesn't mean he has to speak. Being mute is perfectly workable. But to intentionally short-circuit empathy by not allowing the reader any access into the character's inner self - that's unworkable for a book's main protagonist, which is what I've long wanted Black Bolt to be.

His whole not talking shtick is great. He's like the angel Metatron whose voice isn't meant for human ears or Zeus whose real form destroyed Dionysus's mother Semele.

Cool analogies.

To have him speak is to make him a commoner and robs him of his majesty and his mystery. He should be better than that.

I'm sure that's exactly what Stan and Jack had in mind and I totally get it.
