In the comics the Pride were the focus point of that first volume. They were dead and thus somewhat less important by the 2nd volume and on.

It's definitely possible the TV show could follow the same route.

The kids running away is important to the arc of the characters. But so are the parents. The parents IMO need to be gone (more or less) by the end of the next episode. That first season/volume should absolutely be about the parents...and then the kids run away and start evolving from there.

If the show follows the comic, I think it may be a television first. Think about it. Nine major characters dropped after the first season. Have you ever seen anything comparable in any show?

I just don't see how the characters become the Runaways without it. It would be like adapting Game of Thrones and keeping Ned Stark alive because he's popular. A lot of what evolves in the later books is from Ned's death in the first book.

I'm certainly not asking for a 100% faithful adaption...I never do. But I think certain guide posts along the way just have to be meet. The group actually running away and the parents dying is just one of them (although I'm fine if one or two make it). Alex's betrayal and Gert's death (maybe not quite so long) should also happen eventually.

Like the Walking Dead tv show is very different from the comic but I was going to be super annoyed if TV Glenn somehow escaped his big death in the comics. Some stuff had to be followed up on.

(but I'm a hypocrite who hopes we never see Xavin, Victor or Klara in this series)

There's also this circumstantial evidence: Victor could simply have been allowed to die. Instead he's in stasis. I think, as a writer, if I was going to kill him any way, I would have killed him right there.

A part of me is a bit annoyed they didn't. Because now it seems like he's going to live long enough to be killed off with the others (or killed off next season long after the other parents are killed)

But of course I have no idea what will happen.

By the way - does anyone else think Alex might have a backup of the unencrypted files? Chase assumes he eliminated the danger to his parents by destroying the laptop. Might he be wrong?

(comic spoiler)

Well in the comics Alex you know...sides with his parents and was playing the long con all along. He knew what the parents were up to and set the other kids up to find out so he could stop Molly and Karolina's parents from killing his and Nico's parents.

I'm going to be very disappointed if Alex doesn't follow the same path. It was very well done in the comic IMO. He was a traitor to the group but he wasn't a traitor to his parents.
