Ok I admit I watched Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy and liked them. I was originally turned off of the Avengers cartoon because I was ticked they cancelled the previous Avengers cartoon Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes. But eventually I got into the new version and it was really a good place to see characters pop up in a Marvel cartoon that you never expected to see (a good chunk of season 3 was devoted to my faves the Thunderbolts...the original line up!!!!!)

I'm going to miss the shows. GotG in particular really seemed to develop their characters (they have more time than the 2 movies to work with after all). They even made J'Son work (imo).

They ended the Ultimate Spider-Man series a while back which was set in the same fictional universe I think. I only watched the ones I caught in the last season about the clone saga but I enjoyed them.

I think this was the key paragraph from the article:

"Perhaps the most interesting part of this rumor is the timing of it all. Just over a month ago, Marvel Animation announced work on a new animated movie, Marvel Rising. It will feature a whole new team, with a voice cast that includes Dove Cameron, Chloe Bennet, and Milana Vayntrub. Bennet will be providing the voice for Quake, who she’s played in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the past five seasons. Vayntrub will be voicing Squirrel Girl, and will also be starring as Squirrel Girl in the developing New Warriors live-action TV show. Appropriately enough, Cameron will once again be voicing the part of Spider-Gwen, newly christened “Ghost Spider” in-universe."

It's all about girls now. Because DC has cracked the code. For 50 years Marvel and DC have been trying to figure out how to get girls invested in superheroes in a big and profitable way. Granted, DC has always done better in the Halloween costume market, where Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl have been fixtures for as long as I can remember. But DC has now completely broken through all barriers. The Wonder Woman film. The Supergirl TV show. The DC Superhero Girls cartoon and associated merchandize. The upcoming Batgirl movie to be directed by the most perfect choice on the planet: Joss Whedon. Marvel is playing serious catch-up here. DC is kicking their ass.

GIRLS make up more than half the human population. GIRLS are not a minority but in fact are the MAJORITY. Conquer the girl market and you have conquered the world. This isn't liberalism or feminism or whatever. It's capitalism. It's marketing. It's money.

Capitalism is survival of the fittest. In the girl market, DC is the fittest. Marvel is the Dodo bird about to die out.

So now they're finally fighting back. It may be too little too late. The simple truth is, Marvel has no one to compete with Wonder Woman, Supergirl, or Batgirl. They're trying to develop competitive properties. Spider-Gwen. Squirrel Girl. Quake. Captain Marvel (probably doomed to failure but we'll see). Black Widow (should have struck while the iron was hot). Meanwhile they ignore their ultimate secret weapon - Thundra - but we'll let that go.

Girls. It's all about girls. The majority of the human race.
