Call me a masochist but I wanted another season of Cleopatra 2525.

A horrible science fiction show that I've never even heard of? That's rare. I have no life. And it had Gina Torres in it? How did I never hear of this?

Cleopatra 2525 was a fun show full of action and eye candy. It was actually sort of a televised comic book. But not one of those comic books that are trying to win awards. Its brevity (30 minutes) was one of its strengths.

Its partner show, Jack of All Trades, was also fun. If you like Bruce Campbell, then you'll like this show. Here, too, brevity was a strength.

Cleopatra 2525 and Jack of All Trades comprised the "Back 2 Back Action" hour that was basically a midseason replacement by Universal after the last half-season of Hercules. It was syndicated and might not have run in all markets. Cleopatra starred Gina Torres, Jennifer Sky, Victoria Pratt and Joel Tobeck who has all appeared on Hercules and/or Xena prior. Jack of all Trades had Bruce Campbell, Angela Dotchin and a few others who had all appeared on Herc/Xena or Young Hercules prior. Back 2 Back came back the next season but after I think 6 episodes Jack of all Trades ended and Cleopatra expanded to a full hour for the last 5 or 6 episodes, leading to a big climax cliffhanger final episode that was never resolved.

Cleopatra is definitely the show that put Gina Torres on the map for me. She was great in this bit of cheese.

I actually never got into Jack of all Trades really. I'm a big Bruce Campbell fan and I really liked Brisco County Jr. but this show was just way too cartoony and silly, so I see your point about brevity. Ash Vs. Evil Dead is kind of on the fence too, it is really cartoony.
