Previous Post

First: Some outer space adventure where all the human members on a ship are somehow put to sleep, except one guy who fall down a pit in the ship, came back, up, and also found other survivors (can't remember how they weren't put to sleep.

Second: Two races of (non-transforming, I think) robots who (I think) lived on (I think) post-apocalyptic Earth, and battled each other. They may have not even had a cartoon, just a toyline. I recall, as a kid in the 80's, having one of the toys with a comic that came with it.

Sorry I don't have more info than this. Help is appreciated.

The show you're thinking of is Ulysses 31. It was originally a Japanese/French (DIC) production. It's pretty much The Odyssey in space. Ulysses is the commander of the spaceship/space station, (you guessed it) The Odyssey. He's got a son and his son's pet alien something.

In the first episode, they start a voyage back to Earth. Suddenly, an uncharted planet appears near them. A strange energy bubble launches from the planet and hits the ship, capturing his son (and the pet). Ulysses mounts a rescue onto the planet. The responsible party is (you guessed it, again) The Cyclopes, who has a cult of (you guessed it, yet again) Poseidon worshippers. Ulysses is able to destroy the Cyclopes, which causes a chain reaction that eventually destroys the planet. Before the planet goes boom, the cultists beg to Poseidon to curse Ulysses. And Zeus does.

The Odyssey is sent off course into a black hole, and the memory banks of the computers are deleted so they cannot find their way home. Ulysses goes down into a tube/pit to fix something, and while he's there, the crew is put into magical comas. The only ones to escape this curse are Ulysses, his son, the pet, and a little blue alien boy they rescued from the planet.
