It's been out 6 days... Nobody yet? Okay, then...

Peter Parker - The Spectacular Spider-Man 005

Sure, the Letters Page succinctly and sufficiently sums up this issue with it's first, terse, checklist recap paragraph. But to elaborate, just for the sake of discussions...

The Recap Page is still fun but Johnny Storm was absent so the fun that his chemistry, with Peter, brought was gone and not replaced. This issue lost some of the pizazz, in general, of the previous issues. The Vulture put in a standard showing but nothing very memorable.

The panel layouts and gist were okay but the art felt rushed and backgrounds weak. Spidey sagas are always as good as his supporting cast and the scenes here with Betty, JJ, and Uatu all helped a bit with this somewhat slowing storyline.

Peter is so concerned about the safety of sorta sister Teresa and virtual stranger Mason yet he's fine with putting his real aunt May into the mix and potentially endangering her at home?!!!!! He really should divest himself of his ready connection to Spidey as his bodyguards ASAP now that his CEO cover is off the table.

The Gray Blade get some facetime exposition finally but not nearly enough. Their... credentials continue to be... dubious. To be legitimate -and entertaining- adversaries to Spidey & Co. more details of their black ops reputation and infrastructure resources must be forthcoming.

Speaking of details, the footnotes to FCBD and Flash's Venom series run were appreciated. Also, reading between the lines, it looks like Flash wants another superhero persona? Hmm...

Support Cancer Research and Alzheimer Research.

Peter has a SISTER Now? Ugh, say it ain't so! I read some of that Family Business graphic novel,it was okay, but I thought that it was not meant to be canon. It would be cool to see The Kingpin find out Peter's identity, but isn't he not really a bad guy anymore?
