On the note of continuity, it's been confirmed by Marvel themselves that the MC2 in Spider-Verse was, in fact, the original MC2.
On the note of weather or not Peter will resist temptation will probably only apply to his loved ones on Earth-616, not the rest of the Multiverse. I think that the Jackal will probably use Spider-Totems from across the Multiverse in order to give an example as to what his new cloning technology can do in order to resurrect people from the dead, THEN give Peter the option.
See, I'm not prepared to buy that at all due to the various continuity errors in Spider-Verse, ones that were pointed out by Ron F. Not to mention Tom D pretty much gave us the OK to interpret the Mayday affected in Spider-Verse as being a different one when he wrote that Spider-Verse back-up story. Also the Spider-Man Unlimited video game's version of Mayday still has the long hair from the 2006-2010 era of Spider-Girl, and that game had it's own Spider-Verse event, and there's also the UK Spider-Man comics which reveal there's also an alternate version of MC2.
As revealed in the current storyline, the Peter Parkers of several realities do give in to temptation and their actions lead to a Carrion Zombie epidemic. It seems this only applies to realities where Parker Industries happens to be a thing, so likely Faux-MC2 will be left out of it.
