Quote:I haven't seen the film. I heard about this and scene a clip on line where Supermans has a smug smile as he easily beasts Steppenwolf.
Quote:So, doesn't this beg the question of why you need the Justice League when you have Superman? What is the point of all the other heroes if Superman can single-handidly solve the problem in a few minutes at best?
That's not on Superman, that's on the scenario. In all honesty, Superman could sort out most the League problems on his own. You have to craft something that's challenging for Superman AND the rest of the League, without lessening Superman.
Quote:The other is a common criticism is Superman is overpowered. Unless you have kryptonite or another Kryptonian outnumbering him nothing hurts him. The complaint is there is no suspense in his films and he is even harder to relate to. Doesn't this film only reinforce that idea?
That's a strawman, as the complaint is about Superman being too capable of handling situations. Superman being super doesn't make him less relatable, it makes him entertaining. We saw enough of him getting his bum slapped in BVS. Did that make him more relatable, watching him about to be speared by the Batman? Batman was shot point blank to the back of his head and survived; is he too powerful/ Can we no longer relate?
The bigger problem is that too many believe that Superman's appeal resides within his powers, rather than the usage of them in service of the people. He can never be too powerful to save the world.
The point oif having the Jla is that while Superman is their biggest hiiter, most powerful member, all of the others do use their talents in ways he cannot, as Diana can handle Magic and god scenrios better, Flash is master of speed, Cyborg tech, AM master of the oceans etc!
Batman is the one in the movie who looked not needy in my opinion!
And when Darkseid attacks, you need Supes around!
