Asking for a friend. Okay, I'm asking for me. I can be my own friend. I miss the feats.

The feats are something I have missed for quite some time too; I'm not speaking of the time-travel, or the planet moving, just the creative way in which Superman would use his abilities. A lifetime of experience and self-training that would allow him to intuitively calculate just the right amount of speed and strength to perform some feat of physics, or what used to be one of his signature moves in creating super-speed updrafts to extinguish some disaster or remove some threat up into the upper atmosphere.
Writers have occasionally honoured these once signature moves and on-time confidence that Superman once over the years since the Crisis restart, Kurt Busiek and Scott Lobdell being most prominent, but at this point in time I feel the continued adherence to the post-1986 more grounded Superman is anachronistic, that era has been and gone. That self-limiting approach to Superman is now proving a hinderance to both character and storytelling possibilities.

*Related to this I will add here that I do miss The Fortress of Solitude of old. The distinctive Keyhole design entrance is possibly archaic by todays standards and yet it is the interior design, with the massive ocean liner suspended from above, the Pterodactyl, the twisted girder on its display stand, and the sense of scale that this refuge of Superman's had.
Today Fortress' come and go, none of them memorable, bar perhaps Dan Jurgens' grand reimagining back in Adventures of Superman 461... but this lack of a consistent design for Superman extends to other areas too. The design of Krypton, the design of his rocketship, what Ma and Pa Kent look like too changes on a regular basis. \(euh\)
