The more that is revealed about this issue the more I am excited, but what just made it perfect for me is this -

    Quote:
On top of that, DC veteran writer Marv Wolfman — who wrote the original mega-crossover superhero event series, 1985’s Crisis on Infinite Earths — will script a new Superman story based on previously unpublished art from Curt Swan. Swan is one of history’s most iconic Superman artists, giving the character his signature style throughout the so-called “Silver Age” of comic books — that would be the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s… basically everything up until Wolfman and artist George Pérez radically restructured the DC Universe with Crisis on Infinite Earths!

Perfect. This is perfect for me. Well, actually what would be perfect is if Cary Bates had been the one asked to script it; but Marv Wolfman remains a perfectly fitting choice nevertheless... Curt Swan was key to my enjoyment of Superman all those years ago, how strange to look at those days of 'Superman' now and see a character so very very different to where he is today - it is indeed a whole other era to look at.

A great pity though that John Byrne is not mentioned as contributing, whatever the politics are surrounding the man he does still have the privilege and distinction of being the creator who is responsible for the type of Superman we have today. A specially done poster-page from the man would have been entirely fitting, he did after all contribute just such for Superman #400!

Hmmm, who else would one find fitting and worthy to contribute a celebratory poster-page...? \(fear\)

The fact that there's enough unpublished art of Curt's to base a new story around is amazing in and of itself!

I'm super curious as to what the story could possibly be.. and who is going to ink it and color it, as the pencils are just one part of the Curt Swan magic.

Issue 1,000 is shaping up to be special!
