I respectfully, and strongly, disagree here. Superman wearing a T-Shirt and blue jeans isn't really a costume, it's clothing. And as a Super-Hero look, it sucks because it lacks creativity and originality. Add in a cape and he looks very ridiculous. This is why I hated Connor's black T-shirt look, it wasn't a costume and it never worked.
Quote:Bendis on Superman is going to be a rocking success. Why? Because Bendis likes CLASSIC Superman. No, I don't think there's going to be huge earth-changers like when Byrne did MOS back in the day. I think DC would LIKE us to think that, but it's pretty much going to be Bendis putting back what he likes and taking out what he doesn't. So here's what I like so far that Bendis is putting back.
Based on the interviews I've read, it looks like Bendis will be keeping most of the stuff that has already been established for the past year or two. So, it looks like any changes he will make will be minor ones because DC is putting him on a leash. And this is a good thing IMO.
1. Couldn't agree more.
2. You do know Jonathan and Martha Kent are dead, right? Still, I do hope this is one of the things Bendis fixes by bringing them back.
3. Glad I'm not alone in thinking Lara should have black hair and not blonde. I don't mind Jor with a beard, but I do like him better without it.
4. I LOVE Ivan Reis's art. He was simply phenomenal on his run on Green Lantern. I was sad when he left the book. Glad to see him come back to Superman, he's a fantastic artist.
5. I sure hope your right. I don't need to see Superman act so out of character again like he did during the enture New 52 run. So, I'm really hoping Bendis shows us all that he's right for Superman by giving us great stories and great characterization. If not, then I hope Bendis' run is a short one.
Quote:It's one thing to read a bad Superman story. It's quite another to read a story where Superman fails to even be recognizable as Superman.
This is pretty much how I felt about the entire New 52 experience.
Quote:Bendis' Superman will be recognizable as Superman.
I sure hope so.
It's interesting that a hero/villain performs one amazing feat, or use a power they haven't used for 20+ years, and that automatically propels them to a high status despite scans and evidence to the contrary. I don't know what is worse, selective feat picking that has only been done once or twice 20, or more, years ago or ignoring evidence from scans or the lack thereof. We need to stop putting our favorite heroes/villains on pedestals and start putting them where they really belong. But it's evident that people never will because they would rather accuse others of cherry picking feats, when they don't, and being 'morally superior' when they aren't. I guess being honest and as fair as possible only opens one up to being the target of childish accusations and fault finding by those who insist on acting petty and childish. What happened to a good debate between two civil, mature, adults?
