I don't know, but ever since he returned, I've really disliked the character. He seems borderline sociopath, at least in some stories. Different writers seem to have written him as more sympathetic and loving towards Thor and Loki, but how has he evolved? I haven't read the majority of the Silver Age stories, but he did seem like kind of a jerk in those stories, too. He did seem to genuinely love Thor, though. I guess that it depends on the writer. He seemed pretty noble under Simonson. Thanks.

He has always been pompous in the sense of being something of a jerk to mortals. Or the general arrogance of immortal sorts of beings. One could argue he had reason but that does not change him being Pompous.

I think that in the last period of time (and not just because of Aaron) he has become more easy to dislike. He is less regal, noble and comes off like he is not necessarily doing what is in the best interest anymore. Or at least trying to.

He has always had varying tempers but he has gotten worse in that respect. Just like there has always been some degree of conflict between Thor and Odin. It has been much more open and hostile in the last decade or so than it was initially. Where one could argue that it was generally affectionate but with differences because of love interests and whatever.

IMO, it is more with a changing time and dynamic than anything else. One sees that in really all comics from different periods where we see that time period reflected. I would prefer that gods and the like remain more constant but given humans are writing and are not writing in a vacuum these things happen.
