Reply Subj: How Has Odin Changed Over The Years? Has He Always Been Somewhat Pompous?

    Quote:
I don't know, but ever since he returned, I've really disliked the character. He seems borderline sociopath, at least in some stories. Different writers seem to have written him as more sympathetic and loving towards Thor and Loki, but how has he evolved? I haven't read the majority of the Silver Age stories, but he did seem like kind of a jerk in those stories, too. He did seem to genuinely love Thor, though. I guess that it depends on the writer. He seemed pretty noble under Simonson. Thanks.

Odin has changed (in the past decade) from being the ALL-WISE, Benevolent Monarch who loved his son, his people and indeed all innocent life (in fact Odin was a Champion OF LIFE in many ways) to the embodiment of the PATRIARCHY - a blustering, gestating tyrant capable of genocide without a second thought.

In the early days he represented a proud father figure who would scold Thor for his hubris* and warn Thor against loving a mortal woman (likely to save Thor the heartache of watching Jane die of old age while Thor barely aged)**

*Note the Blake punishment in the first place
**Note how Odin gives Jane the power of an immortal...but she is found unworthy

Modern Odin is a 'posterboy' for a WHITE, MALE, AUTHORITY FIGURE. Thus he is portrayed by the recent writers (Fraction and Aaron) as a hatemonger, pilloried and chastised (by the 'vastly superior' women around him*), not to mention sexually shamed as well (another favoured tactic of the Left).

*To reinforce the 'women good, men bad' narrative being spun (under Alonso era Marvel) as part of the Feminist Agenda.

In fact to expound on that further Odin's portrayal is to highlight:

- Men are Tyrants
- Men are Morally Inferior
- Men are Violent
- Men are Weak
- Fathers are Bullying
- Families are Irrelevant
- Women should be in charge
- Women don't need Men
- Women are Strong

So in essence he went from 'curmudgeonly' Lovable FATHER FIGURE to 'foaming' impotent NAZI TYRANT.

You address Omnipotence...tread carefully.
