    Quote:

On this episode of Thor Talk we continue “The Death of the Mighty Thor” storyline with issue 703. Mangog assaults Asgard as he takes on its greatest warriors and its strongest weapon: The Destroyer! Plus Jane Foster’s friends hold an intervention for her to prevent her addiction to Mjölnir from killing her.

You would think that this would be a epic showdown between two titans who have never met in battle. After the Matt Fraction run on Thor he had Odin battle Galactus and it ended in a head butt. (sigh). Now Jason Aron is having Mangog face the Destroyer and it last less than a few pages, really? This isn't a battle, its a travesty.

The Destroyer as portrayed by Aaron is more inline with the movie Destroyer which was a severely watered down version of the original. Hell it even looks like the watered down movie version. It only has one setting and that is the disintegration beam on everything. That used to be saved for the ultimate blast akin to Thor's God blast when all else fails but not anymore.  Now I know how Darksied fans feel with his Omega beams they are a pretty light show just above Superman's heat vision. Nowadays its used on everything and its effectiveness is watered down as well. When you start off using this you know its about to be thrashed. Long gone are the days of the Mighty Thor (man) The dreaded Destroyer, Omnipotent Odin and any other Asgardian that Aaron has gotten his hands. I'll celebrate when the current crop of writers and editors on Thor are gone and this raziness set right.
