Why do they feel the need to come up with the driest, blandest possible rationalization for things that are awesome when left alone? This sort of thing reminds me why I absolutely despise the OHOTMU. So many little retcons in it that are not only pointless, they outright make characters blander. This reminds me of the OHOTMU in the worst way.

Trying to guess the science of things like this is fun for, say, a YouTube video or Wired article.

For the comics, why "because it's magic" isn't valid is beyond me. In a universe where Doctor Strange doesn't have to give scientific explanations for all his spells, I'm not sure why Thor does.

And let us not forget that Odin himself was the ONE who Enchanted the Hammer in the first place. In the many worlds of Thor in which Magical creatures like Elves, Dwarfs, Trolls, Frost Giants, Demons, Witches, Warlocks, Dragons, etc. reside Marvel is looking for a Scientific Explanation as to the reason why Thor's Hammer cannot be lifted by those who are Unworthy. Yet, a regular mortal like Strange (who did not believe in Magic in the first place, but in Science) deals with ACTUAL Magic. Why would anyone take anything these people say seriously; when either they're not serious, or are seriously incompetent.

Bottonline: The hammer was forged in the Core of a Dead Star, but Odin Enchanted the Hammer so that ONLY the Worthy could lift it.

My own interpretation of why they're doing this is two-folds:

1) They do not want to portray Asgardians as gods, or creatures having the spark of Divinity in them- in which they can easily break or manipulate all the Univeral Laws of Physics as they see fit. To people who are not Religious, things like this makes no perfect sense at all. Even movies like the LOTR is a serious problem for these people to process..

2) This is a way to find vulnerabilities in Thor to exploit later on. Any Alien with superior technology or a super-genious on Earth could find a way to Neutralize Thor's hammer; and that could be potentially bad...
