i know in the mythology of the norse gods, thor was a red-headed fiery god of thunder. he was bearded and a big burly character. the MARVEL THOR was long-haired, but clean shaven. this exudes his good looking face and make him young looking. the THOR of the movies had a little beard and mustache that gave him a rough, young, blue collar look.

so i saw the new design from ed Guinness for avengers #1. THOR still has a beard, but it's an OLD MAN beard. thor does not look like the good looking, handsome, AVENGER that JACK KIRBY first drew. THOR should still look young and handsome. i don't mind 3-5 day whiskers, or a little shagginess to his face (but that would make him look unclean), but not a full on beard that makes him the GRANDFATHER of Marvel heroes. that's it. just wanted to express my opinion.

Yeah. Aquaman also looked years younger after shaving off the beard in the Waterbearer story.
