He's my favorite Marvel character. One thing I loved about his journey in Thunderbolts was that he was a terrible person yet was still evolving. He was trying to figure out how to be better while still being himself.

Yes, I'm a huge Helmut Zemo fan. The journey Fabian N. took him on was a great character development story. Zemo restoring Captain America's old locker and mementos that the Masters of Evil destroyed really showed how far Zemo had come since his MOE days. The "Born Better" mini-series is a favorite of mine because it drew a thick solid line between what he was at that point vs. what he had been in his MOE days, and also between him and his father.

Helmut's return to a villain really ruined what his character had become. I've been so turned off by most Marvel books these days, that most of the information I get of current character developments is from these boards rather than first hand. But I hear Helmut is running around in recent issues with a sword emblazoned with nazi symbols. What a disaster if this is what Marvel thinks of him today.

I can only hope that some Marvel writer who is a Helmut fan will reverse recent stories, and restore the "Born Better" Zemo. Possibly after the whole Kobik/cosmic cube story is resolved, Helmut will be returned to where Fabian N. left him.
