Uhhh. I respectfully disagree. They did not do Wonder Woman better than the comic. Far from it.
Quote:1. THE MOVIE: Diana is a daughter of Zeus. Here she is not unique but rather a rip off of Hercules. Yeah, she's Hercules with boobs.
Quote:THE COMIC: Diana was created from clay and given her powers from the pantheon of the gods. This makes her a far more unique character. How is the movie better than the comic?
The most recent origin had her as daughter of Zeus. They were following that. They gave a nod to the clay origin.
Quote:2. AMBASSADOR of PEACE: Diana is an Ambassador of peace not the goddess of war, nor is it her mission to assassinate a god but rather bring peace to man's world. Yet, the movies motivation for Diana to go to man's world is pretty much not to bring peace to it, spreading the message of the Amazons and making the world a better place, but rather to assassinate Ares. That's NOT Wonder Woman.
I am not sure I agree with assassinate. She was pretty open about it. And would have fought him outright if she found him right off.
WW has fought Ares many times. It is necessary. If she is an agent of peace than war is the enemy.
Quote:This proves the comic is better than the movie as the movie took everything unique about the character and ripped it away.
Except she seemed very compassionate and caring overall. Something a bit unique or characterized better than what we normally see. I am not sure an origin alone impacts that.
Quote:And then there's the whole mistake of the movie taking place in the setting of World War I when Diana is a modern Super-Hero and not Captain America. And don't get me started on her inability to fly...
Depending on the period she did not even have powers in the comics. The ending seemed like she could fly once all of her powers were realized.
Diana could be quite old. I am not sure it is an issue that she showed up in a war. In the comics she had some stories in WW2 if I remember right.
Quote:Gal is far from being a good casting choice either. How she managed to win over the audience when, at first, nearly everyone hated it when Gal was cast, I'll never understand. I can name seven actors who are not only more beautiful than Gal, but also would have been WAY better choices: Gina Carano, Gemma Arterton, Catrina Law, Bridget Regan, Cobie Smulders, Odette Annable, Alexis Knapp.
I thought that she did a great job really. I was against her when she was cast. More because of the fact that she seemed so skinny, but she won me over. I am not sure an initial impression should trump the performance. Which I found to be good.
Look Raist bunnies...
