Spoilers, just in case (Although this is all old stuff.). Madelyne has all of Jean's powers, right? Does that make her an Omega mutant? After her death in Inferno, she came back in the old X-Man (He's confusing, too!) series from the 90's. But was that the REAL her, or was that just a clone or a recreation? I read the X-Man series while it was coming out, but I missed the majority of the first year or so. During the Shaman period/era (Probably Nate's best storyline.), I THINK that it was revealed that she was just a clone who turned evil. If I remember correctly, she died AGAIN right after that. So, what was the deal? Is the REAL Madelyne still dead? If so, who was the Madelyne who came back during the Matt Fraction Sisterhood storyline? Was that the end of her?

That was the real her. She'd used Nate Grey's longing for his Maddie as a means to recreate herself. A later story had an alt-universe Jean Grey impersonate her (the Red Queen of Earth-998). There's been some mixup, even at the official levels at Marvel about these two. According to Ellis' story, the Red Queen had only replaced her for the several months of his story, but somehow that became canon for the entire X-Man run. I still say no to this, the Handbooks, and the people at marvunapp.com. Ellis' Red Queen is not the Maddie of early X-Man issues.

The whole point of the Fraction Sisterhood storyline was that Madelyne was trying to get a new body. And she failed. She exists now as a ghost, sort of like Shadow King.

She's made appearances since the Fraction story.

I don't really care for Madelyne because she's too confusing. Maybe she should have just stayed dead. If anyone can simplify her history, that would be great. Thank You.

I usually like resurrections, but in this case, I agree. But really, the only thing confusing things is that wretched Ellis story.
