Quote:Kimberly Hart - She would be pleased. Lots of pink in this. Actually, very good artwork all 'round.
My only complaint art-wise was the bizaare return of cat-Beast. C'mon Cheung, he hasn't looked like that for about 5 years now.
Quote:Psylocke - Not among my favorite X-men. This is all about the Astral Plane (the pure psychic/psionic realm that makes the fabric of reality) and her mastery with the mechanics of it. Always consistent and my favorite story element to spotlight. Not. She compares herself to Jean, Quire, Cuckoos, and Frost. Just like Last Days of Magic, these Last Days of Telepaths, dying left and right will probably be a GLOBAL crisis way downplayed (if even mentioned) by other titles with their own telepaths &sigh*. (Is this before or after Jean goes to see her next month in her book?)
Quote:OML - Really? C'mon. This alt-timeline character is a pox on Earth Prime.
Complaint #1 with this, but I knew that going in. I'd rather him be here than with Kitty's team, tbh.
Quote:Bishop - REALLY, not among my favorite X-men. Did Cable 'end' him? This is worse than Rogue's 'revolving door' reappearance.
This is the first we've seen Bishop since Storm's Uncanny X-Force. That's about 3.5 years. Not very revolving door-ish.
Quote:Fantomix - REALLY, not among my favorite X-men. Talk about forced story device to get him on the team.
Complaint #2, but whatevs... He was Betsy's last boyfriend, so...
Quote:Gambit - Not among my favorite X-men. He's better as character not on the team. Why did Bets even call him?
It was worth it in my mind because of Rogue's reaction to his presence! LOL "Looks like you picked up a bad case o' Gambit."
Quote:Beast - Ugh. Why did Bets even call him? The only one all the way from USA? They footnote his IvX failings but not his S.E. failings. Is this before S.E. it seems so unlikely. If it is or isn't after HYDRACap the repeated chronological unclarity is... a shame.
I'm not surprised she called him. The two are close.
Well, Rogue and Old Moan Logan just magically happened to be somewhere over the Atlantic. BTW, they were going to the States, and 3 hours away from getting home. Then suddenly, they get Betsy's distress call. OML jumps behind the wheel of the Blackbird, and magically, they're over London?! WTF?!
Quote:Angel - Finally, some spotlight. Oooooh, so thaaat's how they're 'tweaking' his power. Sort of a Hulk out thing but explained more convolutedly. Could be interesting. Why is he in Scotland - TELL US!
I can only guess that it's not important at all. He was just on vacation, trying to stay calm.
Quote:Mystique - Not among my favorite X-men. She's better as character not on the team. On the cover but not inside. Why?! She ruins an otherwise perfectly acceptable premiere cover.
I'm betting we end up with Xavier's mind in Mystique's body by the end of this.
Quote:The suddeness of Farouk's attack makes it hard to argue with the formation of the team. The probability of these players organically remaining together as a team unit after the opening arc is nearly impossible to imagine. Also the weak chronology setup of each member before the issue begins was... a shame. Plus, we have another global crisis with people dying but no other heroes/agencies reacting will be a nitpick if not addressed. Still, it should be an interesting crisis to resolve, especially with YOU KNOW WHO involved, but the future of this team/book has me very leary.
Well, they are in the same sort of wheelhouse, with Betsy as the lynchpin. If Xavier comes back, all bets are off. IMO, a good Shadow King story should last several years.
I enjoyed the story a lot, I'm glad to have Bishop back after all that character assassination. If only we could just swipe under the carpet, the past few years of Emma, Storm, Wolverine, Xavier, Cyclops and Beast.
Also, that's probably not beast, he's in cat form, he hasn't been that way for years now, probably mystique.
As to how OML got there so fast, the black bird can fly over mach 5 (angel with his metal wings can fly faster than the black jet at full speed, explains how he's also there).
I'm looking forward to #2
