Today's X-book post...

All-New Wolverine 023

Last issue may have been a mediocre set up for an unlikely (unwanted?) team-up, in outer space, with the GotG but now that we're there, this was an exciting read from cliffhanger followup to cliffhanger anew. Wolverine... uhm, nope can't say it without qualifier yet... Wolverlaura is the selfless heroine, from page 1 to page 20, off to save her sister. Gabby was the best character in the book with the best lines and best dramatic fate. Jonathan (and Gabby really) should NOT HAVE BEEN ON THE COVER. The 4 GotG present offered spot-on character support. Groot should not have been dissed behind his back, surely he can push an emergency distress beacon. The aliens provided decent exposition to the gist of this arc. Fang was a surprised and forced plot device and his footnote would have been good if it came with an explanation why he wasn't as godlike powered as last appearance. And finally the Brood: the annoyingly, repetitive/recyclable/redoubtable Sleazoids. By ignoring chronological and directional logic, remembering just their classic early Claremont stories by A.Milgrom then P.Smith - they are quite intimidating and scary here. (Hmm... this... servicable art would have been more welcome if P.Smith were drawing this, eh?) By not looking at SPOILERS and not knowing where the Legacy Relaunches will go, Gabby's final fate has me counting the days 'til next issue to see what happens next.

Awesome, eh?

Fang? Is he that feral guy from The Imperial Guard? Or am I thinking of someone else? This book sounds good, and I enjoyed what I read of it in the first trade (Other than the questionable characterization of The Taskmaster.). Is this all in 616 continuity (If that still exists anymore.), or is this like Spider-Girl where it's kind of off in it's own world? Has Laura faced off against any of Logan's old enemies (Or even Sabretooth. He is still a good guy, isn't he?)? Does she have a rogues gallery yet? Thanks.
