Heterosexuals feel alienation during puberty? Alienation from whom? Their parents? I guess that's probably true, actually. OK, so alienation during puberty may be a nearly universal experience. Good point.

Not just their parents, but the various cliques that form during teenage years and the alienating they do to each other is often the result of the effects of puberty.

Good point. So discovering one's sexual preference at puberty and feeling alienated is actually a subset of a larger set of phenomena that most if not all people experience from a variety of perspectives. No wonder Marvel's mutants have struck a chord in so many people. I never grasped that before. As it turns out, I personally felt alienated long before puberty, so I never made the connection. But I like this viewpoint a lot.
