I still prefer they both be mutants because I've always hated Wanda having real magic. Her name is supposed to be ironic because of evil flatscans, dammit.

I really wonder how many people got that "irony" and when that was retroactively interpreted in. I mean, it is funny how she never felt tempted to change her codename after changing from supervillainess to superheroine. Not that "witch" is much of an insult in these days of Buffy, Charmed and Harry Potter...

But there's no need for any relationship with Magneto. My preference is that things in Marvel not be interconnected.

There was even less need to change the relationship with Magneto, it came about purely because of Marvel's movie rights conflict with Fox. And I'd say it is more easy for readers (especially new ones) to understand Wanda's and Magneto's relationship with them being father and daughter than with "you see, back in the early 1960s she used to be in Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants because she felt indebted to him for saving her life from a stereotypical fork-wielding mob and then for several decades she thought he was her father but then it turns out he is actually just the former husband of her mother Magda (currently believed to be dead, although nobody ever found the body) and the father of her dead half-sister Anya." The change did not change the relationship to "no relationship", just to a more tenuous and more complicated one.
