Quote:As soon as I opened this, I realized something was wrong. Nothing looked familiar. And then it hit me - ah, crap, my comics shop had screwed up again. They had never given me issue 28. But I went ahead and read this any way. I also ordered issue 28 on ebay.
Last issue was almost perfect! (imo)
Quote:I assumed it was something special about how the metal was being used. Comic book science and all that.
But if it's, like, 'a duck' - it should still look like it and quack like it. Marvel's been selling Murumasa metal as lethal against regenerators. This new bit about the source of a soul having to be smelted in is a curious retcon element that is being (partially) presented - apparently as a loophole and limitation to the effectiveness and availability of it. Not that it's a bad tweak for the concept; it just needs more clarification after this arc.
I was surprised to see Creed, Old Man, and Yuriko in this issue, but that could easily be because I missed issue 28.
Laura calls Gabby "Honey Badger" in this issue. Did she start that last issue? Ugh, I hate missing issues.
Murumasa seems quite the badass, and interestingly it is mostly implied. He doesn't actually demonstrate the usual badassery indicaters like slaughtering 20 ninjas. He just radiates this message of don't get on my bad side.
Quote:I love that Gabby and Daken are buds. I know, I know, I'm supposed to hate Daken because he did all that and all this and all that over there but gosh darn it, I bet if someone threatened Gabby, Daken would eat their heart - and that has to count for something, right?
At this point, Gabby talking with Forbush Man about paint drying would likely be fun reading. But yeah, this pairing with this ..err.. sniktery dude'll not disway me. The creep and the cutie have been entertaining playing off each other so far.
Quote:Laura's "average" aura is the result of the strongest iron will in comics today, with the possible exception of Rachel Summers, who really needs to visit this comic. I want Laura and Rachel to become friends.
Pass. Not a Rachel fan.
Quote:I love Gorgon.
He is cool here. And he is cool last week in OML #33. Who knows which came first! But as a character he needs a lot of refining done to his chronology and concept for me to appreciate him as the villain as near as much. He still holds promise. It'd be good for him to challenge Lord Deathstrike or Mandarin for control of some place.
