Quote:If Marvel were in the position it was in the early 1970s, perhaps. And that position was "utterly desperate." In 1975, the X-Men had been a dead concept for about 4.5 years. Between 1970 and 1975, the characters made the rare guest or cameo appearance in other books, but there really was no new product. The series was just reprinting Stan & Jack's old stories.
Quote:In order for history to repeat, Marvel would have to cancel the entire mutant line of books for several years. And nuh uh-- no movies either.
I'm all for that. I mean I don't think the strategy would work either. But let's cancel all the X-books for 5 years and see if Marvel's quality goes up or down. I'm willing to risk it!
And the movies have always been garbage. (except Deadpool)
Quote:Purely by chance (and the talent of the creative staff--duh), the totally new characters struck a chord with readers. This would also have to happen again for something like this to reoccur.
Quote:But I also don't think history could repeat because the universe is so big compared to 1975.
I'd have to quit Marvel if they did that.
