    Quote:
Are the Externals really BACK from the dead, or does this take place before they died? If so, the former seems very weird as these characters have been dead and pretty much forgotten about forever. I didn't even think that they were popular enough to bring back (And it sounds like they were better off just forgotten about. ). This sounds like an odd choice. The only one that I really remember is Gideon and, uh, was he really a villain? How was Selene in this, was she portrayed well? There are some cool characters in this (Blink, Selene and Doop.), but the plot just sounds weird. Thanks.

This story takes place circa early Whedon-Astonishing X-Men time period. The plot calls this "13 years ago," referring to real-world time. So, it takes place during the books that were released in 2005 (2018-13=2005). Armor is a new student at Xavier's, and this is before the Astonishing team takes her to Breakworld where she gets her name. She's putout that "Armor" is the best name they could give her (funny, since she picked the name).

Yes, they're back from the dead... at least until several of them are killed again in this story.

Candra: dead
Crule: dead
Nicodemus: dead
Burke: dead
Saul: dead
Absalom: cool
Selene: cool
Gideon: dead but coming back eventually

Selene seemed like a whiny shell of her former self. She came to Cable crying for him to protect her.
