organization dedicated to conventional crime. Originating in southern
Europe, the Maggia spread through non-communistic Europe and the
Americans. Its presence in the United States first came to public
attention in the 1890s. The Maggia is not a monolithic organization
but is a coalition of many virtually independant groups known as
"families". Several Maggia "families" are based
in New York City. Three of the families have come tp pre-eminence.
The Silvermane Family conducts its activities along traditional
Maggia lines, dealing in narkotics. The Hammerhead family dominated
by middle-aged Maggia traditionalists and finally the Nefaria family
which bears little resemblance to the rest of the Maggia, mostly
becauce it's leader Count Nefaria has used superpowered agents on a
number of occasions (see: Count Nefaria)

Finally, after years of sitting there, Ultron was able to beg for
help from a young woman named Marianella Mancha who was stealing from
the dump (see: Mancha, Marianella).
Believing Ultron to be a prophet, Marianella agreed to help him
reconstruct his body in exchange for Ultron’s help in creating
the one thing she wanted most in the world: a child. After his body
was rebuilt, Ultron used his own technology in conjunction with
Marianella’s DNA to create a cybernetic/human hybrid that would
become Marianella’s son, Victor. Ultron programmed false
memories into Victor’s mind to make the boy think he’d
lead a full life. Unbeknownst to Marianella, however, Ultron also
programmed into Victor a great interest in superheroes that would
push the boy to visit New York on his 21st birthday and exhibit his
latent super abilities upon his first meeting with a super-human.
Ultron did this in hopes that his son would be accepted into The
Avengers and one day betray them by destroying the legendary heroes
(see: Avengers).
However, after being visited by a future version of one of their
teammates and warned of the threat Victor poses, the Runaways were
forced to confront Victor a prematurely activate his super powers
