As servo said http://www.comicboards.com/php/show.php?msg=avengers-2011012619583608&layout=thread this was a talk issue too. The difference from Adjectiveless Avegners this week being the coversation was easier to accept at face value and the art definitely enhanced with this ish...
New Avengers 8
Another difference: Excellent/appropriate cover.
"GIVEN ... FREE REIGN TO PROTECT THE WORLD ANY WAY THEY SEE FIT." Sounds preposterous in several ways. Okay, in Adjectiveless Avegners, this week, Steve claims to have unilateral authority for WORLD security - so MAYBE this PrevPage mission statement is preposterous in one less way. However, this jurisdiction (and agency) things needs more exposition to envision better, ASAP!
That opening refreshing change of art with the cityscape set the stage for an visually enjoyable style of pencils and colors.
The whole date was a fun read. The arguement of superheroing on the side was well balanced. Jessica was should have WON the debate with her POV though she goes and makes the comic book-friendly decision to veto herself.
POWER WOMAN! Yea or nay, AMB? The tease of it 'til the very end was a cute running gag. Or maybe theyre just offering to the fans? If it does happen expect a team up of Power Woman and Wonder Man vs Warrior Woman and Master Man. Also, the Distinguished Competition is poised for there debut of Spider-senorita.
The Doomfight was a fun read. Quick casual quips during a BIG fight is a tried and true staple of comics - Cages friendly banter with Carol was a tiny bit distracting as it had the same casual full conversation feel he had at the cafe. [A missed oppurtunity not to give the readers a name on the menu or door there.]
The calvary moment with the hydrant was fun. Good move using the cell phone too.
The Thing had a moment to shine. [Will be wanting to know which Avengers# the 'death' of you know who this month sequentially fits with his appearances now.]
It was going so well, and then... we're back to eating at the table. Hmmph.
The trouble with a secret ID for the 'officially untrustworthy' Spider-man is getting more annoying storywise.
The ending for this appreciated selfcontained installment was... fun.
I miss my brother.
