Page by page bullets to compare if you read...
New Avengers 010
• This cover is so frustrating. Clearly it appears to be symbolic using DaCosta (with glasses) -sans Avengers Five- vs SHIELD but not a very good image choice to go with.
• The inside art is good enough.
• okay, now it's registering... AIM Island is DaCosta's floating "Avengers" HQ base and Barbuda is a real island for AIM. Although, it still confuses me WHY DaCosta is doing it this way. So, floating island is off California and real island is in the Carribean? Weird. And now, the goto backup base for New Avengers is at the South Pole and not
• Multi-consciousness narration is kinda neat. Only touched on, though.
• Power Man is acting unprofessional and whiney in the middle of a battle.
• Yeah, no, Clint did not know Mel was a mole. But shouldn't Clint have gotten that SHIELD all-units code too?
• Whisperer vs SHIELD was fun. He holds them off with his gadgets. Good showing mixed with a dash of SHIELD jobbing. He shows up Hawkeye too.
• Really annoying to see the Avengers logo on Avenger Five's guantlet. Half decent giant fight only because of the play by play.
• Larry is the poor man's Bob. His version of the AIM costume was more generic than he was. Although, his sycophant rant shows he cooould be more than throwaway.
• Clint vs SHIELD was not fun. They had range guns fercryinoutloud not to mention Clint had no backup bows in his HQ. On the plus side at least he lost. Kudos for the bruises he gets too.
• More good facetime with Roberto. More M-Pox effects and positive prep results. Good job defeating American Kaiju. It's good to see he is moving farther and farther away from his cornball Avengers run alongside Sam Guthrie.
• Good Gen.Maverick character moment. The book needed this since he got better spotlight than 6 New Avengers on the Roll Call page - combined this ish.
• Pet peeve about referring to Dum Dum as a common Robot. His Man On The Wall unique version of A.I. His mention of Hill on the Hill feels like this book still has a very weak crossover connection to the Event. Even the Whisperer as whistle blower seems like a comparitively minor problem to throw so much manpower behind when supervillain inmates are (presumably concurrently) revolting.
• Effective Clint/Mel hallway scene.
• Closing with the "good guys" and NA personel escaping to the Savage Land starts out uninteresting but inoffensive with page 19 and the mystery voice. Then page 20 brings the spit take! Cannonball is back?! Cornballing to return?! Is he serious about his power protecting against the T-Mist?! And more importantly WHEN?! And WHY?! And we will see if Owen/Franklin tweaking affected his wife and child next ish.
