Uncanny Avengers 026 (2017)
Another consecutively strong issue. An excellent cover.
Liked the immediate focus on dealing with aftermath of Wanda being possessed by Cthon during S.E. Did not like that we still got almost no specifics/details of said possession. Is it because S.E.Omega ain't out yet or just typical post-Event forgetfulness. So, Kobik felt Wanda was one of the 'scars of damage' not to be reset, eh? Hmm...
Liked that the prologue included at (seemingly) a first time shown scene from the clash in S.E.9 between Pietro and Wanda. Did not like that the... briefness of the content. So, this is right before the same big battle where Dr.Strange and Lady Thor team-up and knock her down? Presumably, THAT is when Cthon is exercised from her body to Strange's satisfaction? Although, this story suggests that appearances can be deceiving and it is effectively troubling that Pietro still hallucinates on occasion that she still is compromised.
Liked that the "team status" is still up in the air and it that it's properly addressed along with fair excuse to squat in The Mansion "to regroup". No Wade, no Nate, no Stevil! Good stuff.
Really like Johnny's numerous fine characterization. Rogue's bee in her bonnet concerning Wanda joining was believable. The Twins sitch was intriguing. And Doc Voodoo gave fine example how the heroes (and readers) can get over the Secret Empire Mess and quickly move on.
Rogue, Synapse and Jan(who is obviously and annoyingly sharing a codename with Nadia) didn't bring much but lended to the team book air well enough. No complaints. And they looked great. This is as good a time as any to note the art was FANTASTIC.
Sort of going to complain about the choice and randomness of choosing GRAVITON as the sudden foe... but on the plus side
-he's got history (and first appearance) with The Avengers
-he's got unresolved status after his stint in the defunct Starbrand/Nightmask series
-he's team-buster formidably impressive
-he's got a very curious epiphany-like twist motivation being hinted at; plus, this is only setup so HOPEFULLY satisfying explanation will follow
-he's providing an exciting last page cliffhanger trap for Scarlet Witch to survive
So, on 2nd thought, maybe no complaints about him afterall
