It's Echo!

I didn't like the arc, but I am just glad it's not She-Hulk. That would spoil the character for good!

Frankly, I think Shulkie has already been through worse than Phoenix (and survived), and it just might have saved her from what's already been going on with her for the past 3 or so years...

But I am glad it's Echo.

I think it's also established that the more power Phoenix uses, the fewer people will ever be born. So...

The Phoenix revived him (via trickery) in the AvX event years back, and he gave the phoenix its energies back to save the Kree.

Yet his Cosmic Awareness and Zen-level of inner peace and control would make him ideal to host the Phoenix. The Phoenix could have revived him again, fried the cancer out of him and merged with him.

That should have been their end story!

Yeah but that is just a weak excuse by editorial and the writers to keep Marv in the grave.

Marv should be easily able to handle the power and control issues that come from hosting the Phoenix.

Perhaps you are right, but it still just feels like another lame reason to keep Marv dead.

One would think with all the temp/fake revivals that they would just go ahead and bring him back. Carol's book has not been a good read in some time, and they really lost me when they retconned Walter Lawson and Yon-Rogg back......

The Pheonix is about death and rebirth which is like to create something, something has to be destroy, because that energy has to come from somewhere and the Phoenix has been known to destroying worlds to feed.

Although Jean wished her luck and told Wolverine to leave her alone, I do wonder if the other X-Men will go after her because of a delusion that the creature belongs to them, like Magneto, not to mention that Echo is a baseline human with an usual talent, which perhaps ends where they learn that the Phoenix belongs to no one. That it's been around long before the X-Men existed and will continue to exist long after they're gone, despite their beliefs that they're going to live forever. That perhaps not all it's hosts have been mutants as they seem to believe, just like they believe only mutants are evolved and not other mutated beings with powers like Franklin Reed who turned out to not be a mutant this whole time.

Echo, being a marshal artist, will perhaps be more discipline because she doesn't crave the power like most earth mutants would because of their culture where they have to be better then everyone in the universe and are sometimes careless about it.

So the main reason whey her and Galactus been at odds would be that she took away from Him some of his lunch options?
