Subj: Any more reactions to Detective #869?

Missed 868 but got...

Detective Comics 869

May be way off base with some of these immediate PBP reactions but on the other hand lots of readers probably pick up this issue similarly and may feel the same way or not...

00 Nice cover.

1-3 Art: OK. Citywide crisis involving impostor Batmans and Jokers: got it. Nod to Aparo: neat. Length devoted to setup: overly generous. Avenge the Joker?: can someone remind me what the real Joker fate/status is before this arc started?

4 Title page: OK image but on the other hand unclear if BM fished around in a body or his urgent need, inspite of the Batgloves, to unsafely/unsanitarily just grab it dripping blood and all. Dick: pick a Batutilitybelt and stick with it!

5 Top panel segue: highly irratating - thought for a moment that it was a flashback to a Bruce Wayne adventure by the dialogue plus with the misremembered reason theyre in the Batcave instead of the Batbunker. Odd that the WORLD'S GREATEST DETECTIVE could not find a single clue [point Sherlock Holmes] but kinda neat with his comment on the laughter.

6-7 Day Eleven: presumably #868 dealt with Day One til Ten. Gotham Knights: presumably an Easter Egg T-shirt. Blue Flu: presumably Bullock has been seen dealing with this in many a Battale. Axe of Gimli: presumably an important clue. GCPD shield: kind of lazily drawn image but presumably someone will see here the word GOTHAM unfocussed could ironically pass for BATMAN.

8 Oh, its JokerZ not Jokers: got it. Batsignal upgrade: now it looks like a less impressive toy.

9-11 Doctor Kaligari: VERY effective creepy-scary intro(?). Mr Heath: oh, this 'joker' has a weak stomach or something.

12-15 Babs: presumably after some BoP issue - at least some help from the superhero community after 22 days of this I-can-handle-it-all-cliche concern by Bats. Bats: thats a lot of agitated bats for visual effect.

16 Bartholomew Fair: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartholomew_fair - huh, neat realworld tie in (with this sudden scene change).

17-19 Origin: always a helpful story element.

20 Bitterness: this POV gives an otherwise overused Joker wannabe-plot some interesting dimension in.

21 Gargoyles: standing on one inside(!) his Cave is a lot of Bats posing for visual effect (instead of calling in the JLINetwork for backup).

22 Dialogue: think that Gordons and Bullocks should be reversed in that first panel.

23-27 Bats (& bats): World's Greatest Detective? AHAHA HAHAHHAA! Ineffective hero? MM HMM.

22-24 Robin: an otherwise overused Batman wannabe-plot gots to have its Robin however unwelcome/cliche that element seems...

25 WHOA: okay, that is one interesting dimension of Robin to throw (in).

Your reactions?

Meanwhile in JLI...
