So what would you have happen to the panther?? Who would you have draw it, write it? What would happen in it? Lets all take this opportunity to be the Editor of Black Panther monthly, just for the hell of it. Remember no one can be wrong with their versions. Very Exciting! Lets do some heavy "imagineering"................

First off I would ditch the ret-con immediatly, The past 41 years of Panther history would stand as it is! I would have The Panther get involved with the non-registered Avengers because of his pride and love of the team that he was once a part of.
I would like a story arc based around the semi annual rituals of purification and the administering of the heart shaped herb that gives the members of his lineage their powers. I would also include his communing with the panther spirit/god and the spirits of his ancestors. I also seem to attribute The Panther with sort of surreal landscapes and dream scapes. Both on mythological planes as well as psychological planes. I would play up his role as head religious figure of the tribe and work in how this makes him qualified as a "shamanic guide" in these type of places. Very much the way he and Moon Knight journeyed in the afterlife in the C.Preist run, Panther expertly leading the way. Other characters in the Marvel Universe might seek him out for his prowress at navigating these realms and of course he would encounter new villains such as Nightmare. Then of course I would contrast it with the wild Super Science that makes Wakanda the envy of other techno-states, and the Panther doing his masterful geo-politiking. I would every once in a while throw in a completely left field story arc just for a change of pace. I would have him blast off and infliltrate the Shi'ar empire for some kind of crazed reason. I like the idea of him running rings around the Imperial Guard and then barely escaping back to earth. Maybe even pulling a fast one on the Starjammers for their aid. For some reason I see him befriending the Moon Knight and even helping him get things straightened out with Khonshu. Perhaps Moon Knight would be his contact in America. After all Moon Knight is sort of an unaffiliated hero there. And just imagistically they look good together on the page. As for Storm, hmmm. Well what can I say, I'm not really into Storm in the Black Panther. So I guess she wouldnt be in my version for very long. Nothing Personal! Perhaps after whatever seperates them I would have a "Panthers Walk" arc, where he goes on walkabout through Africa totally solo. Maybe a couple issues that concern Blood Diamonds would be appropo. As for the Panthers look, I like the bald head and him being an older guy instead of looking in his 20's. As for the sacred vestments, I would keep the original all black 60's-70's look with the cool short cape. I dont really dig the "energy daggers" that he used to shoot out of his wrists, and the anti-metal claws while making total sense seem too much like Wolverine to me. To make him different I would give him a black steel vibranium knife ala Tarzan, keep that jungle mystique.
But who to draw.........Sal and Bob A. of course! But I also like David Finch for it as well. If I could have anyone from out of the time stream I would pick Jim Starlin circa 1975, that includes the inking and the coloring. But for that matter I like Billy Graham as Artist and Bob Layton for the inking.
Dont get me started about having Grant Morrison take a crack at writing it!
Well this was fun, now I must leave the Panther Pavillion and its strange visions for the semi-real world. Now its your turn.....
Hail the heart shaped herb!
