Black Panther #35
Boring well drawn poser cover. Rare occasion looking at the Prev page is good.
Nice to see BP's family involved with a story instead of just cameo background appearance. Not so nice transition from the last issue - no definitive FF status declaration; with Storm in Messiah Complex, iirc, she was an FF member in the narration, right?, which made this tales continuity frustrating.
HATED the 'Off the coast of Wakanda...'!! This is just a GLARING geographical error is mootly unacceptable! Lake Turkana does not cut it, though it has to, as a no-prize for me. Even the growing list of neighboring countries listed here: http://www.comicboards.com/blackpanther/view.php?rpl=080327013642 is getting to be annoying. It's a shared MU, the writers should share fictitious countries more often. Making up a new country does not work in almost every case where that country was referenced only in the one story introduced.
To balance that hate mapping, really liked the 'bullets in the air' concern which has long been planned detail in a story of mine if it ever got used.
Killmonger looked formidable but the jury is still out on the details of his reintroduction. Stark's appearance was okay - BP's Captain America is dead 'joke' seemed spot on. Not clear why Tony was shown so out of the loop with Killmonger's past and present sitch - other than to overlook past issue canon.
While the joke about Monica's name was uniquely exact it suggests more evidence of shared universe neglect her specific character has gotten lately. We'll have to wait and see if she was jobbed or pawned against Killmonger.
Anyways, Erik comes across as an evil foe of respectable level and history for our protagonist. Exciting cliffhanger at the very least. (nb: Hope that T'Challa's MCP 7 Treaty is not neglected and mentioned ASAP, in this title if not in this arc)

This issue was okay, but not as great as I had hoped. I liked how Panther was acting in the beginning of the story (more in line with the Priest version) but then he started talking way too much during the rest of the issue. The dialogue in this book is still a bit simplistic, it seems.
I'm still not liking the addition of Panther's "sister" into this series, since this is a holdover from when previous canon was ignored.
About Killmonger...did he die in Priest's series after he ate the sacred herb? Or was he also resurrected before Priest's series ended?
If Killmonger was not resurrected, I would like to see an explanation of how he is suddenly alive again.
It will also be interesting to see how many issues it will be before Storm returns to Wakanda.
I'm looking forward to what Panther will find out regarding the "death" of Captain America...

He didn't die, he went into a coma. And yes, he awoke before the end of Priest's run. What isn't explained is how he went from being the official Black Panther to being a rebel and outsider again. Untold story material I guess, for someone who cares to use it.
