It's got Hudlin's name on it. That means it's even more of a rip-off. Hard to believe that the Panther is my favorite Marvel character but I haven't touched an issue of it since issue #3 of Hudlin's run. As much as this new artist's work looks great in the teaser previews, it's a matter of principle to me.

you don't get to see who the new Black Panther is but since this is one of those $3.99 issues, it does have some extras after the 22 page story, which read rather quickly I might add. The art is great and I think Hudlin does a credible job in setting up the arc. If you saw the previews, you know that the story jumps around in time and you follow the captions like "3 hrs ago, etc." Storm is visiting the more rural areas of Wakanda when T'Challa's ship comes in for a crash landing. He's in critical condition and I think one of the Dora Milaje are on board but the other returning passengers are a question mark. The main flashback in T'Challa traveling to meet Namor and listening to his offer concerning the Cabal. When T'Challa declines, Doom is outside waiting. T'Challa tells him the Dora Milaje are more than he can handle and Doom pretty much says to bring it on. And that's how it ends. There are some preview pages to issue 2 that show some pretty good action scenes of the fight as a swarm of Doombots come into play. There are strong hints from the visual (the dialogue hasn't been added) that Shuri or Ororo or perhaps both may be the next Black Panther. First off, I don't think T'Challa played this very smart if he thought he could leave Latveria with the knowledge of the Cabal's existence. He should have played along to at least get out of their in one piece. Namor's stance on this is pretty enigmatic. Does he know that Doom is ready to take T'Challa out of action in order to keep the Cabal's secret? T'Challa's rep for being prepared is taking a big hit because it looks like he barely escaped Latveria with his life and is now in a coma. Could it be that there's a war between Wakanda and Latveria on the horizon? And where will Namor and Atlantis stand?

Sorry to be late getting back around here. Glad you liked the scans. It will be interesting to see what happens with diplomatic relations between Wakanda and Latveria in the months to come.
