Subj: Why does the Panther God empower the Black Panther and support Wakanda?

Gods rarely do things out of the goodness of their hearts or for a single motive. Often, even if they do something for the benevolence of it a single major action can have multiple purposes some of which are years in the future before they come about. Why does the Panther God act as a patron to the Black Panther and Wakanda? Is it pure benevolence? As a way of one-upping rival gods? Part of a plan to evlevate mankind or help the region? Just for the worship? So it can have an ally in times where it cannot act? Some combination of these or something else?
