John Byrne's Christina Carr & Reginald Hudlin's Augustine du Lac - should there be an explanation for these characters ?

As you know, these characters are connected to two retcons (Chapter One & Reginald Hudlin's Black Panther run).

Since then, both stories (Chapter One & Black Panther's alternative origin) have been totally ignored by other writers.

Nevertheless, these characters are alive on Earth-616.

Should there be an explanation ?
For example, could it be a consequence of the Avengers storyline tampering the continuity of Earth-616 (The Avengers vol. 4, #1-6) ?
