Ultron's brain patterns are based on Hank Pym, who has never shown any signs of gender issues, why would he suddenly become a female? Like someone said, they already had a female Ultron, Alkema, they could have just created a new version of her with new brain patterns.

To be frank, not many 'menacing' (evil) woman have been written successfully without looking contrived or eventually down the line turning into some sort of sex symbol by male comic book readers.

Just look at the Infinity Being "Nemesis" who was given seven infinity gems as a character. The name was menacing enough. The power and potential was definitely for the character was there. But look at how the character turned out in the end? A lot of gem jobbage and eventually the character was tossed aside like last decades news.

Totally agreed. It's like someone said "Let's make Ultron more interesting. Maybe breasts?"

Why would a robot need a chest anyhow, to suckle future Ultrons? I just don't get Marvel these days.

So just because he came up with Alkhema, he likely wouldn't use it again unless he had evolved the idea into something else.

So whatever that is in the picture could be an evolved Alkhema, or it could be an evolved Ultron that took elements from Alkhema and combined them with himself and created a new being.

Mystique can go from being a "sorta heroine" to a stone-cold killer at the drop of a hat, Morgan is just freaking powerful and has not an ounce of good in her. And Nebula is just psychotic. She'll kill you just on a whim. She's a true child of Thanos even if he denies it.

while it is true that there are strong portrayals of women in comic books who can also depict themselves in a very capable manner, sadly there is still a definite gap between the perceptions and interpretations when stacking strong female characters against strong male characters.

And the idea that you use Thanos as the basis for menacing is nuts. How many characters are as powerful as Thanos? Nearly none (cosmic entities excluded, of course).

And the point is that someone posted that a woman cant be menacing - they didnt say a woman cant be as powerful as Thanos (which isnt true: Goddess, Dark Phoenix, etc).

my main point was that if you put a strong, capable female like Mystique beside a strong and equally capable male peer, more often than not people would be more afraid of the male version. You do have good points about strong female characters (Dark Phoenix being the best example), but you have to face the truth, there is a difference in perception between a female charcter and a male character when stacked together. For every "menacing" female character, there are probably 2 or 3 male ones that would be equal or more. For every Dark Phoenix there is a Thanos and a Darkseid, for every Elektra there is a Bullseye or Deathstroke.

if you put Mystique in a room of MU civilians, I'm sure people would be terrified, but if you put Mystique AND Sabertooth in a room together, people would be more terrified of Sabertooth. It doesn't even have to be Sabertooth.. you can replace him with Post, Harvest, Stryfe.. etc. and they would have a more menacing prescence to people.

Youre still missing the entire point.

The *POINT* is that woman, just like a man, *CAN* be menacing.

And, to be honest, I think this new female Ultron looks scarier than the original.

No offense but Sabertooth is NOT a peer to Mystique. Hes FAR stronger, faster, durable, etc.

Deathstroke is also not a peer to Elektra. He, like I wrote above, is stronger, faster, more durable, etc.

If youre going to make comparisons at least try to use characters that share a similar power set.

Electra was a hitwoman, a professional killer, which murdered plenty of people for money, no matter if guilty or innocent.
In the Ultimate titles, she still is. No matter what her motivation was, it doesn't excuse her deeds. She is pretty evil IMHO.
