How well would The Thing do against Savage Hulk starting at Hulk's baseline strength level and without both his healing factor and the ability to grow stronger? Does Ben get a win here in your opinion?

Does Ben get a win here in your opinion? His chances are a lot better, but then you have things like the savage Hulk in Ben's body looking better than Ben in Hulk's body due to savagery. Even at base (especially in recent years, not so back in the day) the Hulk is probably a little bit stronger and definitively more durable. The healing factor is a big loss with how the Hulk is written nowadays though, whereas it probably wouldn't have made that much difference for the savage incarnation classically. Close fight I think. I think he'd win probobly yes. He's held up fine against plenty of similar opponents and is technically a superior fighter than the Hulk is. I suppose it would be like the Bartender fighting the drunk, as long as he keeps his head he can see this through and turn it to his advantage. It's not as if the Savage Hulk was the sharpest tool in the box, he just relied on his brute force and rage to get the win and Ben is a very smart competent fighter with a lot of street nous to back him up.

Ben wins 3-4/10 in this scenario. Hulk's baseline strength is still a good bit above Ben's and his durability is still greater than the Thing's... so I don't know that the healing factor will be an issue here on average. Savage Hulk is still more brutal, and Hulk's usual MO is to not get too much stronger than is necessary against his opponent anyway, so the "madder stronger" thing isn't used much against Ben either being that Hulk starts out strong enough to win. However, Ben is a competent fighter and a veteran's veteran... I never count him out completely!

Ben is a better, more determined, more focused fighter. Even if Hulk's baseline strength is more, (and there is a lot of debate to that point) without the increased strength or healing factor, Ben will eventually overcome whatever the Hulk puts out. |
