I know Joe Q said this is the last big event but from what I can see, its his job to lie to us (I don't take it personal). I don't think DC made any such promise and the way 'Blackest Night" is flying off the shelves. So which writers delivers the best plot and action in these kinda stories?

and since this is a battleboard

If I had to choose a writer for the next big event and considering that continuity, consistency, and characterization are important to me...

...then I'd probably go with Roger Stern or Kurt Busiek.

Since neither of them seem to have the editorial gravitational pull of a BMB, I'd likely have to pick from one of the newer 'stars'. Of the 'Young Guns', I'd probably go with Matt Fraction. I'm loving his stuff on Iron Man and X-Men, and can't wait to see what he does with Thor. I would assign a tough editor to him to make sure his stuff is consistent with the rest of the comic universe, as in Iron Man there's the occasional WTF moment - but for the most part his writing is pretty solid, IMO.

Can handle lots of characters in one book brilliantly (EASILY the best team book writer around at the moment), knows his continuity and respects it, writes high-concept stuff without going ridiculous like parts of Final Crisis....

....plus there's a moderate to good chance he would include Captain Britain and have him beat the crap out of a top tier.

Cheers.

Just let Quentin Tanratino (Kill Bill) write this little Saga about how the Silver Age Mangog (who can shake an entire world just by walking) stepped on "Blood and Thunder" Thor's Big left toe, and tells Thor, with fingers cross and everything, that them DC Universe people told him to do it on behalf of his Father Odin. What follows is the worst Nightmare the DC Universe has ever seen. So much senseless bloodshed would be spilled that readers would be asking: "What the heck is the sense of all this, and what's even worse is that it never stops. Every freaking month a new book comes out with another beautiful senseless bloodshed on the horizon. However, what prompt the Silver Age (not Golden Age) Mangog to say such a thing to a wacko Thor is what would keep everyone curious. Evil Characters like Thanos would literally wash their hands saying, "That's not how I operate, and I don't care about stopping this crazy-mad Thor on the count that I could get hoit seriously w/o some mysterious outside energy source to aid me." So there you have it folks, what do you think?

beancurd 2010

hey, hey, hey! the beancurd is back for more, welcoming a great 2010 to one and all. well, the writer i would choose would definitely be the mighty garth who is well on his way to stardom with his great stories. hopefully he can finally write a magnificent and majestic thor that kicks tail every which way and can be embraced by the young and all at the same time. thor regaining the mantle of marvel's most powerful character would just be great and "about time!"
