What makes Kurse unstoppable is not only his Ridiculous enhanced strength, but his Durability factor that's even more ridiculous. Just remember that Thor with the belt of strength and Mjolnir's power was not slowing down Kurse; whereas during the IG- Thor floored Thanos with a single blow. Thus, unless Thanos has a Force-Field to protect him from Kurses blows (see Thanos vs Galactus, Death Walker and Odin), it's gonna be a relatively short match- for despite Thanos high end durability factor, he just can't take much of Kurses death blows. The best strategy for Thanos is to blast Kurse at full power from a safe distance, and really hope for the best.

This was after establishing Surfer completely no selling She Hulk's punch and dealing casually with the Rhino.

beyond normal top-tier strength and probably endurance.

The one thing to consider, though is the Odin vs. Thanos fight where Thanos did pretty well.

Would Kurse been able to take the same (or more)?

But Odin stated that Thanos was siphoning vast amount of energies from an undisclosed location- that could potentially be utilized to create energy shields and powerful EP. Thus, if you were to take out this advantage from Thanos, he would have a real problem in defeating someone like Kurse; especially with his durability factor.

That is Thanos powerset though, he’s able to enhance himself. He’s always amping or using an outside power source.
Other cosmics can also but rarely do. Thanos does this on a regular.

this skill in the arena.

Now, who would win, Thanos or Kurse?

Funny that Thor didn't have to wear the belt of strength vs Thanos or any other such items; unless Thanos was tapping on even more additional power- as in the case with Tarene. Now, to be perfectly fair, Kurse was enhanced by an outside source to be about 4 times stronger (and probably beyond) than Thor, and with a ridiculous durability factor that could practically be compared almost to a mid-level Sky-Lord. The early version of Thanos who fought Warlock and the Avengers would not have lasted 10 seconds against Kurse. You see, once Kurse was enhanced - that was it for him for he reach a tipping point. The most recent Thanos has no limits in that if needs more additional reservoir of power/energy he gets it INSTANTLY. In that aspect, Kurse would have a very difficult hill to climb- and Thanos is the favorite. However, if Kurse has the opportunity to physically get to Thanos- he would do to Thanos what the Hulk did to Loki in the Avengers movie. Imagine the combined strength/durability factor of Thor, Hyperion, Gladiator and the Hulk charging at Thanos; and even if Thanos win- it won't be easy.

One thing to note is that I consider Thanos, because he depends on powers that are not inherently his.. just like KT tapping on the Odin-Force. You guys would immediately jump and say that that is not Thor; but then with Thanos is all perfectly groovy, right?

KT is an enhanced version of Thor, a different Thor if you want whereas Thanos tapping into his power source is simply himself - like the Silver Surfer is still himself when he taps.

I think that in Thanos's first appearances it was not yet fully shown although present - look for example in his fight against Thor and Thing during his encounters with the Avengers.

Characters like Thor and Thanos are born with a inherent amount of power that is part of their DNA. KT "extra" power comes from his father who got this extra power from his brothers and added it to his own when they sacrificed themselves fighting Surtur.  In Thanos' case he took his natural abilities and amplified them through bionic's, mysticism and a power boost from Mistress Death. It is safe to say that Thanos is tapping into a outside power source to do the things he does.

No Thanos definitely got a power boost since the 1st time he was killed by Adam Warlock. After he was brought back Death had already given him a power boost to begin the Thanos Quest.

It should be noted that Thanos totally blindsided the Silver Surfer in order to achieve this. He could have beaten the Surfer one-on-one, of course, but he really nailed the Surfer with his guard down in this incident.

TBH, Ron Marz had Surfer admit that Thor would've killed him had Warlock not saved him in Blood and Thunder. Starlin had written the same too.
