Thanos #14 got me thinking when it showed Thanos as a baby in his crib on Titan. If Norrin and Nova were evil and considered all options, would Thanos stand a chance? Consider that Surfer and Nova combined speeds in Surfer #51 to travel tens of thousands of years back in time. Does Thanos have a failsafe plan to protect him from time travelers murdering him as a baby? What else might Norrin and Nova be capable of that might defeat Thanos, if anything else?

Well, that's an interesting question. I'm not sure killing Thanos as a baby would even work, given the way that timelines work - particularly in regards to Thanos and Warlock. I'm trying to remember but my recollection that the Magus was able to exist outside the bounds of chaos and order, and that might or might not have impacted his ability to exist independent of the timeline he was in at the time.

Warlock actually had to use his gem to erase the Magus' timeline, not just change the facts that made him exist in the first place.

I'm trying to remember where a time travel change has had that kind of impact on a cosmic marvel story, I dunno.

In the MU going back in time simply causes a bifurcation and creates another reality. So in that reality Thanos as a baby is dead...in their own it has no effect. Only one time travel trip was otherwise...a time machine created by Tony Stark to specifically not cause a bifurcation.

Wouldn't that just create a new timeline and not actually overwrite the current one?

I think there was the idea in Peter David's X-Factor that Doom's Doomlock technology can overwrite time but you don't override it unless you have that tech....you just create divergent timelines. (I assume actual magic would also do the trick)

Doom had that Doomlock tech that could let him do it.

That's interesting. But also messed up... By simply altering time, you'd cause the sudden existence of another Eternity, Order, Chaos, Death, etc.??

Quantum theory saying for each possible divergent path another reality forms.

Dooms platform? That made alternate time lines...if your referencing something else when/where was that?
