I'm as white as they come but I welcome a black president (or a female president). Not because I'm overly open minded or anything I'm just as sick of manipulative rich white guys in power as minorities are. Time for a change I say. I feel if we had a minority president his or her loyalties wouldn't be just to the party...by mere virtue of being the first minority president he or she would have to aspire to be more than that.

Personally I wish we would elect Condi president just so the muslim nations would have to deal with a female leader.

Is condi competent? I've seen a lot of reports that make her sound a bit one track minded and not always on the ball.

As for female leaders and muslims, many parts of the muslim world have already had their own female leaders/heads of state, such as Bangladesh, Turkey, Pakistan.

Not that I seriously expect this (sigh) but it would be fascinating for the '08 election to be between Clinton/Obama and Rice/?. \:D

Plenty of great choices out there:
Barack Obama
Ron Dellums (if he would ever run)
Marian Wright Edelman (if she would ever run)
Barbara Lee

At least this election. 2012 is to far away to tell.

As of right now, the only two serious black contenders for the election are Rice and Obama.

There is no way Rice can win on the Republican ticket, and the undecideds wouldnt vote for her because most see her as an association of the Bush Presidency and its bad mistakes.

Can someone tell me why Obama is even a contender? He has no real experience in anything. From State Senator to US Senator who hasnt served a full term yet. But of blacks would vote for him depending on his views on gay marriage, immigration, social programs, etc. However, blacks count for only 12% of the population, with the black voting percentage probabily being less than average. And then you have more blacks voting for Republicans now.

If Obama can hold off his political ambitions for a few years and run in 2012, or 2016, he could win the office. However, I think he will run in 2008, lose the nomination, and be labeled as loser. He might (and should only) get the VP nod in 2008 though.

I think in the future, you will see an Hispanic president first, then a female, then a black.

Mike Tyson would be a better president then Dubya.

*Disclaimer* I do not always think I'm right, I do not have a problem admitting I'm wrong, and I don't consider my opinion to be "fact". If I don't write IMO in front of everything I say or I don't tuck my tail between my legs everytime someone disagrees with me it's simply cause...I mean what I say. I don't say something unless I believe it to be true. So if someone tries to police my opinion or pick an arguement over something trivial all I'll simply say is "read the fine print" I also don't care If I make a grammatical or spelling error. Thank you, have a nice day, Hakuna Matata, Live long and Prosper.

But we'll have a black President in time. It'll happen. The further we get away from the segregation period the better it gets.

I anticipate that both major parties will have white males for the Presidential candidate in 2008. Running mates could possibly be black or female.

Jesse Ventura for President in 2008! Go third party!

Lol, 10 bonus points for any1 that can id that quote...

As to the topic asked; sure some day in the far off future we probably will see a black president. As for the next 10-20 years...I doubt it.

And if a black person does win the presidency anytime soon, I really wonder how long it would be before some half cocked Neck dusts off his sniper rifle.

2pac said it best; "...We ain't ready to see a black president."

2pac is dead. It depends on what this 'black' President does not what he says.

The Muslim world has heads of states like a dictatorship.

is far from where it would need to be for any minority, especially a black one, to win the presidency of the United States.

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand your sentence, are you saying that all those leaders were dictators? In the three cases I gave, at the time of female leadership, and even now, they were not model democracies but they were hardly dictatorships (though Pakistan has somewhat returned to that under General (not Pres!) Musharraf). Turkey might be purely secular but Bangladesh is a muslim democracy, though not an incorrupt or stable one.
