Does the FF need them? I say YES!

Here are my ideas:

1. Thing: It will be revealed that after Secret Wars (where he became the great wall of battleworld) that Ben has always been able to influence his mass but never really utilized that ability. I'd have Ben be able to increase his mass to become stronger and play with the heavy hitters. It can only last short term due to the strain on his body. His regular form would still be his default but I'd add a smaller form where his rocky epidermis is super dense and it would be very difficult to seriously hurt him but the trade off would be decrease in strength.

2. Johnny: building on Reverend Meteor's idea of having Johnny burn a blue flame, why not give him the whole spectrum? Each color would have different effects and I'd reveal that the color also effects his personality. Johnny has been a jerk and a hot head over the years because he's constantly burned red. Perhaps blue would be soothing and calm him down.

3. Sue: I'd remove the almost-telekinetic powers. I know a lot of folks might hate that as it takes away a lot of the power that writers like Byrne gave her, but hear me out. She's still be able to become invisible, project force fields, etc. What I'd add is the ability to "see the unseen". Why is Sue always so intuitive? Because she can sense what normal people cannot. While not a mind reader she would be skilled at sensing what people are hiding or keeping hidden. Furthermore she could see or sense invisible portals or gateways to other dimensions. I'd also give her true invisibility, undetectable by technology. She'd be much more of a stealth character.

4. Reed: the hardest to re-imagine. I'd probably have him lose his stretching powers altogether. His real power is his mind. Maybe it's time for an de-powered I'm sure Reed could really turn his costume into a high-tech device, competing with Stark and Doom. I don't know, Reed's tough.

5. Kids: make Franklin 11 or 12 slowly developing his powers. Stop with the universe creating, it's annoying. Valeria: just a normal kid, no big brain.

Everyone else in the MU has had power upgrades, second mutations, etc. The FF need to keep up.

I'm not sure if "need" is the right word but some tweaks might be beneficial.

I like the idea of Ben being able to increase his strength in some manner. I don't know that mass or density really make sense as the mechanism. It should probably be energy-based, maybe cosmic energy, maybe negative energy from the Negative Zone. It should be time-bound, lasting only 90 seconds, and should alter his personality to make him, for those 90 seconds, a berserker. His scales should also change colors so we get a clear visual cue. Gray might work.

I wouldn't change Johnny from a power-perspective at all. I would simply have him employ more often a power he already has, which is to absorb the heat around him. He can put an entire room into instant deep-freeze. That could surely be more useful than would be indicated by how rarely he does it. I'm sure he could also absorb the heat from an opponent's body. That would stop someone dead in their tracks, even someone with a healing factor, like Wolverine.

I don't like the telepathy-like ability you describe but I definitely like the notion of her being able to see matter or energy that is invisible to everyone else.

Jack Kirby would often depict Reed as having some super-strength as a result of his stretching powers. I would make this more explicit and frequent. Like he could wrap his arm around a car and then toss the car. He wouldn't be as strong as Ben, but I would make him as strong as Spider-Man and show this on a regular basis.

Since Franklin is going to remain a kid forever, I would keep his powers limited. Actually, I think the power to make himself invisible would be quite enough. It would allow him to hide and run away, which is all he should be doing. No force field, because his entire role is to provide someone his parents need to rescue, and a force field would undermine that.

Valeria can remain a genius. I've never minded her super intellect. If Franklin can turn invisible and Valeria has super intellect, it's an obvious connection to their parents, which, let's face it, would make sense.

Thing - just let his gradual cosmic absorption into strength, explain why he is a borderline Class 100. Let him use his fighting abilities and willpower show him to be why he can be a challenge to the Hulk and it is not automatically assumed Hulk will beat him each and every time.

Human Torch - showcase the 'Nova Flame' again, let this be something that can affect the Ultron's etc again. Let him use his brains and experience sensibly. Like has already been mentioned, allow him to use his heat sapping abilities. Perhaps show his abilities as being pyrotechnic.

Invisible Woman - just make her telekinetic. Allow the invisibility to be another power. She's powerful enough already.

Mr Fantastic - again, showcase the strength, also allow him to have true shape shifting abilities, with a combination of Mystique/Plastic Man.

I agree with many of these ideas, almost all of which we've posted at one point or another.

1. Ben - Super durability, near Hulk Strength. The Hulk hates fighting him because he can't put him down. He doesn't always beat Ben and loses due to tiring out trying to hurt Ben.

2. Johnny - I have also mentioned the heat absorbing idea. Less focus on flame, more on mastery of heat energy control. That would show growth in his powers.

3. Sue - I like Sue as the powerful one. Keep her as is, IMO, with maybe only allowing external use of her powers. No more force bubbles inside people's bodies.

4. Reed - Bring back battle Reed with more use of his stretching in creative ways, combined with tech

4. Kids - Franklin must grow up, but powers must be limited. He can't be a god. Otherwise, send him off to live with Celestials.

5.Valeria = Batman (no more Uncle Doom nonsense)

Might as well join the club:

Ben: Agree with the mass/density concept. Let him both Bulk up AND Slim down. Like when Doom's clone just kind of looked like a guy with cracky stone skin. With less of a dermal layer his muscular strength lets him be Powerman like and have full use of his hands, but when it's time to take on the big dogs he can bulk up (re: all those myriad forms he's had), even to a higher degree than pineapple. Maybe his strength doesn't increase (but please put him in the top class, not Hulk but up with the contenders) but his durability is through the roof so he can go toe to toe with the best (he does now, depending on the writer)

Johnny: Agree.. nuance and skill over power. Maybe the heat control lets him change the color. Absorbing heat, etc has been used in the past and forgotten. He could do the trick he used on Terrax WITHOUT liquid nitrogen. Love to see him crack Doombots by freezing and superheating them. And the whole Hulk walking away from a Nova burst is BS, Nova should be an ultimate only in desperation move.

Sue: Not crazy about telekineses. She's very powerful as it is. Just either let her SEE her own constructs or have Reed give her some contacts that allow her to do so fdor more refinement.

Reed: I liked the puff daddy strong Reed thing too (Claremont?) He's stupid crazy physically powerful as it is (unless Millar has Spider-Man beating him up when he's indestructible) More gadgets!

The Kids: : Avatar. Frank's REAL body is indeed off in the galaxy exploring and learning. He had shunted a part of himself to create Valeria and his non-aging self when he was becoming omnipotent to keep his parents from becoming despondant. When she realizes it Valeria, knowing she isn't real and is just an extension of Franklin remerges with the earthly Frank. Franklin's powers are limited but in times of desperation he can tap into his source and when there's the need he can evoke Valeria to help with technical problems as she's more or less an alternate aspect of his personality that can't be kept up front at all times due to corruption from Doom's mystical encrochment.

I'd be terribly unpopular if I was in charge, I'd take away the forcefield constructs almost completely from Sue. Basically she's like an Invisible Lantern now.. all the powers of a Ring Wearer but you can't see her constructs (or her)

With their return Sue would undergo some monumental strain (and obviously there's some other ingredients in the mix for the other power changes) and she'd have to fall back on her light manipulating powers. She never really explores those because she's got her forcefields. But she could be suprememly awesome being the MU's premier light manipulator. Mirror images, changing perspectives, Dazzler like flashes and maybe even some focused laser like effects (maybe with some Reed tech to focus it).. Perhaps she could tap into that whole 'hard light' concept that has been used in the MU before to create small protective shields, but not the A-Bomb containing GL type stuff she used to make. Like Johnny controlling the temp spectrum by absorbing heat, she could even do the same with light, creating blackouts etc.

And give her that same awesome costume they are giving Phantom Girl for The Terrifics. Payback for doing the FF steal \:P
