I'm floored. Chip Zdarsky plucked every damned heart string that this old FFan has left and if Jim Cheung isn't drawing from the heart himself it's a damned good act. Unlike their terrible showings in other books this really showed us Ben and Johnny.. and that two faced Victor guy, too. It's not a sad reflection of greatness gone by, it's so far the true continuing story of two great friends who've shared in a terrible tradegy and are trying to move forward the only ways they know how to. Johnny isn't a two dimensional self absorbed idiot, he's a brother, uncle and friend coping with monumental loss. And Ben, Ben is Ben Grimm. That amazing character that a long time ago I said drove the bus on a tour for the readers through the amazing Marvel Universe. Can't wait for the next issue. Wonderful to read, gorgeous to look at. Heck, Zdarsky even tossed in a editors note in one corner for a reference. Loved seeing that. Pull List: Fantastic Four-Fire Power-Eternals-Champions-High Republic-Seven to Eternity

It's still not certain to me at times who even knows Reed, Sue and the children's fate. Doom discussed it with Tony's gf Amara but when Bendis has him talking about Reed and Sue with Ben almost reads like he's feels they aren't coming back. Is Marvel writing out Reed, Sue and the kids and sending on the mission to rebuild the multiverse for some undetermined amount of time? I'll be disappointed if they don't return at some point during this series Marvel's also keeping things close to their vest on the nature of this series. Is it a mini-series or an ongoing?

I agree! And wasn't Zdarskey's dialogue and characterization darn near perfect for everyone involved? Its really not a question. Doom especially came across so well with whom he was and whom he is trying to be in current continuity. Can't wait for the second issue! IT'S PONDERRIN' TIME

Doom especially came across so well with whom he was and whom he is trying to be in current continuity. Can't wait for the second issue!Zdarsky IMO does a better job than Bendis did at balancing those two aspects of Doom. He's a tad more supervillainy here but I think he's more likely to be that way with Ben who hasn't bought into this new Doom. I think after the events of Infamous Iron Man Doom has given up on Ben changing things between them. So this story confirms that Victor really doesn't know what happened to Reed, Sue and the kids when the Earth was restored after Reed and Victor's final battle. This shows that he will probably be joined the search for them. It will be interesting to see his first face to face with Reed since Secret Wars. I'm also a bit disappointed with Johnny losing his powers again. It was such a contrast to read this after reading this week's Uncanny Avengers where he's flying around with Rogue. That looks like an interesting relationship. I hope it's followed up on at some point.

I was incredibly skeptical. I have never been a fan of Chip Z. This was good. Really good. It is both a push for the return of the F.F>, and the epilogue Secret Wars needed. I am not only happy, I am excited for the next issue.

Maybe someone already pointed this out, but they are putting Cheung on an Avengers book, he only finished issue 2 of this and then Valerio Schiti will be taking over the art chores. As it was a Bendis Book I cannot say I ever read it, but he did work on Ben with Guardians. Maybe those issues are on Marvel Unlimited. Looks pretty good from what I've seen on the web. Totally agree. Loved the first issue. Just wish they had kept the MTIO legacy numbering. If they were going to go back to #1 maybe they should have come up with another title? mark

I think they went with a #1 issue because the original Marvel Two in One series ended with issue #100. The titles that have gone back to the original numbering were close to a significant number. Like Invincible Iron Man is now approaching issue #600 and it's going to be a bonus-sized issue.

Doom discussed it with Tony's gf Amara but when Bendis has him talking about Reed and Sue with Ben almost reads like he's feels they aren't coming back. This first issue gave me the impression that Doom WANTS Reed and the rest to still be alive. It's similar to how the Joker would probably rescue Batman from any dire fate that hadn't been engineered by the Joker. I also think Doom may suspect in some vague way what Reed and the rest are actually doing. Quote: Is Marvel writing out Reed, Sue and the kids and sending on the mission to rebuild the multiverse for some undetermined amount of time? I'll be disappointed if they don't return at some point during this seriesI think Reed and the rest will return in 2018 some time. Maybe not by issue six of this story arc, though. I just hope their return means something. I would like it to be the central plot element of some big event.

That looks like an interesting relationship. I hope it's followed up on at some point. My guess is, we're going to learn that Johnny's powers are somehow tied to his overall emotional state. My second guess is, we're going to learn that all of the FF are more cosmically tied together than we have suspected. This would mean that all of the FF (not just Johnny) will be slowly losing their powers until they reunite.

Quote: A power tether? Booooooooo! ![]() I think the tether is much longer than the diameter of our planet. Assuming it exists, of course. (Reed and Sue aren't even in our universe so no tether, no matter how long, could span the gap.) How long was Ben on Weirdworld? Years? If so, then never mind, my guess is wrong. I know Ben has been captured by various extra-terrestrials at various times, but he has never been gone for years, I don't think. But I could easily be wrong.

I'll vote for the emotional state/depression like the Count. Power tether would mean as you kill off the FF they grow weaker? Ben seemed pretty Ben Like when he one shot stomped the Crewmember. Giving it over to the emotional problem just gives us more of the often unseen "Johnny has a brain" And if it were a tether thing and affected Reed and Sue then Frank would just fix it or Val would explain something to her father (since he's not as smart as her) to alieve it ![]() Gosh I dislike Know It V-all. Even in the warm loving light of MTiO #1 the sarcasm escapes my typing fingers. Pull List: Fantastic Four-Fire Power-Eternals-Champions-High Republic-Seven to Eternity
