http://www.hyperborea.org/journal/archives/2007/06/27/naming-impulse/ Impulse #50 was not the first comic to reference Batman naming Impulse. In Secret Origins 80-Page Giant (a Young Justice themed special, cover date DEC 98) there's an Impulse story by Waid and Ramos in which the following exchange takes place: CAROL: So, who named you Impulse? BART: Batman. I have no idea why. Was he being funny?

Sure, here you go. The scan didn't come out too great because it was near the near the spine, this was back when the 80-Page Giants were glued instead of stapled.
