Surprisingly the main cover even though, a poser one, was way better compared to the variant cover with context because the idea of the costume coming out of his ring and growing in patches on his body is displeasing.
Actually liked the nuAquaman relaunch much more than The nuFlash. Thought it was a more entertaining way to reintroduce a previously well established DC title character.
The comparatively large number of named cast characters was generous. Although no one particularly stood out. Oddly, even Forrest was more fun to read than Elias or Manuel.
Three pages for title page credits felt like wasted space. On the other hand there was more than enough variations of speed FX to try to fill the readers need for speed. The best one was the overhead page layout of moving in his apartment.
Reserving judgement on nuIris. We will see if DC thinks readers want to go thru another courtship with the two right from the word go. Iris apparently introduces herself to nuFlash for the first time but has
Suriving the fall thru phasing and throwing the perp thru the window were clearly presented but totally unclear and unsavory tactics. And jumping into the river to secretly change into his hero duds seemed baffling in a pointless and dumb way too.
No coming of Wally or Jay was disappointing but on the other hand no Irey and Jai either! And is it safe to come to the conclusion this arc is all about recoding clones or somesuch? Nothing topnotch, a bit underwhelming even, but on the other hand, rated many of the other nu#1's reads below this one - that includes some flagship DC SuperFamily titles.
