Subj: The Fury of Firestorm Review *SPOILERS*

It needs to be said. It is odd that Ronnie is being replaced so soon as Firestorm when he barely started. I know it has happened in the comics but at least then it took a lot longer. I understand that the writing staff for Legends of Tomorrow is going for ethnic diversity (based on what I’ve read), but the writers could have just used a different character instead of replacing Firestorm. Then again, maybe Robbie Amell’s schedule interferes with Legends of Tomorrow. Whatever the reason, Jax is a worthy replacement and I look forward to seeing the actors take on Firestorm. I especially look forward to see if Firestorm actually gains the ability to transmute matter into something else like he can in the comics.
KING SHARK! Those teeth Patty brought to Barry is an obvious nod to the comic character. And after Grodd’s appearance last season that was met with a very positive fan reaction, I would not be surprised if King Shark suddenly appeared in a future episode. If anything, the special effect staff will be up to the task when it comes to bringing him to life.
And then of COURSE King Shark shows up at the end of the episode after I write that paragraph! As expected, he looks simply awesome! And scary. Definately something I never want to meet in a dark alley. And taken out far too easily. Let's hope Flash and King Shark have an extended fight in a later episode.
After what Iris’s mom did to her, I admire her for facing a person that walked out on her life. Especially considering that Iris was told the truth by her dad. It took guts to see a woman who caused her pain and it is not an easy thing to do. I myself have no idea what that feels like but I do have a friend who does. I was not surprised to see that Iris basically told her mom off before walking away and I fully expect that Francine has a hidden motive behind her visit to Central City other than being fatally ill. I do not think Francine will be seen much after this episode because I think she is just here as a set up to Wally West.
The story was predictable and I should have recognized that sooner. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the overall story as well as the side plots. It was an enjoyable episode to watch as usual even though it was predictable.
I always love seeing Patty Spivott’s character but she does not have much to do and serves very little to the story other than some good scenes with Barry. I hope the writers rectify this problem and soon. Good thing she saw a little action at the end there with King Shark, I hope we see more of that. She is a cop after all.
And finally, we see another Metahuman. I was beginning to wonder if any of them even existed anymore. Seeing yet another character from Earth-2 was already getting tiresome.
Love the reveal in the very end where Earth-2 Dr. Wells reveals to Barry who he is. I can’t wait for the next episode!
A solid 4 out of 5 stars.
It's interesting that a hero/villain performs one amazing feat, or use a power they haven't used for 20+ years, and that automatically propels them to a high status despite scans and evidence to the contrary. I don't know what is worse, selective feat picking that has only been done once or twice 20, or more, years ago or ignoring evidence from scans or the lack thereof. We need to stop putting our favorite heroes/villains on pedestals and start putting them where they really belong. But it's evident that people never will because they would rather accuse others of cherry picking feats, when they don't, and being 'morally superior' when they aren't. I guess being honest and as fair as possible only opens one up to being the target of childish accusations and fault finding by those who insist on acting petty and childish. What happened to a good debate between two civil, mature, adults?
