The Flash opens where the last episode left off before everyone gets on with their lives. As always, Barry takes on the weight of the world on his shoulders when he is helpless to save Fake Jay. All of this is becoming very evidence to those closest to Barry and on top of all that, we have a clever escape by King Shark. With the portals closed, the threat of Zoom looks like it’s over. But we all know that is not true because somehow, some way, Zoom will find his way back onto Barry’s Earth. Some have speculated that Zoom, or Barry, will learn to vibrate so fast that they can travel to other dimensions and worlds. But I am more inclined to believe that a brand new portal can be opened to Earth-2. Not by using the old portals because that is impossible but by opening a brand new one. The singularity causing the portals to Earth-2 to open last season is what caused the breaches, Team Flash just needs to figure out how to do it again by opening all new breaches. However this plays out, I look forward to seeing it.

Caitlin is taking Fake Jay’s death pretty hard by being direct and a little...cold. Which Cisco notices right away. So, not only do we have Barry taking on the weight of the world we have Caitlin dealing with her loss. The showrunners really know how to play this all out to such great dramatic effect, kudos to them.

Good to see Barry admit it’s his fault Joe-2 died because of him. Instead of focusing on the mission, Barry took over his dopplegangers life and ended up causing so much emotional trauma and it’s good to see that Barry blames himself because it IS his fault. Perhaps next time, Barry will FOCUS on the mission instead of getting involved in lives that aren’t the same on his Earth.

And then Caitlin plays a Killer Frost joke on Cisco that was hilarious! We also have confirmation that Caitlin does not have the metahuman gene so it’s not very likely we’ll see her as Killer Frost, but stranger things have happened and if the showrunners want it to happen then it will. But if it does happen, it won’t happen until season 3 at the earliest.

The CGI was pretty impressive in this episode, especially King Shark. There were a few weak points where the CGI was a bit choppy, but all in all, it was extremely well done. The showrunners really outdid themselves by actually giving us an episode where King Shark was featured as the bad guy. If there is one complaint I have about this episode, it’s the fact that King Shark’s threat level wasn’t that impressive. He wasn’t...scary enough for my tastes and this episode just felt like another metahuman in town wanting a piece of the Flash. As a result, the threat King Shark was supposed to be fell a little flat.

The Zoom reveal was great and not very surprising at this point. After pausing the scene of Zoom carrying Fake Jay and then throwing him down on the floor, I paused the video and studied the man’s face. That is definitely NOT a different man, that IS the same actor who’s been playing Fake Jake and Zoom.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS:

1. So, with all the breaches closed, then how is the Flash going to have a face off with Zoom in the season finale? My thought: They will find a way to open a new portal to Earth-2.

2. “We are going to need a bigger Flash.” Priceless line! \:\)

3. Fake Wally is a dick, jealous of what Barry has. Get over it, Fake Wally.

BLOOPERS/MISTAKES:

1. In the opening scene Danielle Panabaker’s acting was a little off to me. Usually she’s great with what she is given but her character just lost another man she cared for and she wasn’t acting her best in that scene. Whoever directed this episode should have gotten Danielle to try harder.

2. The guards trying to feed King Shark are IDIOTS. They wait for 3 seconds and they think he's dead?! Yeah, deactivate the one thing keeping King Shark in there and provide his only way out so he can escape. Morons!

It's interesting that a hero/villain performs one amazing feat, or use a power they haven't used for 20+ years, and that automatically propels them to a high status despite scans and evidence to the contrary. I don't know what is worse, selective feat picking that has only been done once or twice 20, or more, years ago or ignoring evidence from scans or the lack thereof. We need to stop putting our favorite heroes/villains on pedestals and start putting them where they really belong. But it's evident that people never will because they would rather accuse others of cherry picking feats, when they don't, and being 'morally superior' when they aren't. I guess being honest and as fair as possible only opens one up to being the target of childish accusations and fault finding by those who insist on acting petty and childish. What happened to a good debate between two civil, mature, adults?

I'm thinking Barry will open portals by using the cosmic treadmill. The treadmill Cisco is continuously upgrading seems to be heading in that direction . . .

Too many Jays for me! I agree that the man in the mask freaked out when he saw the Jay we know's body apparently dead. So the man in the mask knows that Jay and what he means to Earth 2. I personally can't tell who he is.

I want the Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne/RF back. I am re-watching Season 1 and he is a total bad ass! I know that that the Flash he encountered was not fully developed but he seemed far superior to the season 2 RF. BTW- I admit I was wrong. In both RF/Gideon interactions in season 2 Gideon calls him "Professor Thawne."

I was totally fooled for a second when Caitlin acted like Killer Frost. That was awesome!

Other than that, I agree Wally acted like a tool to Barry, but I knew something like that was going to happen. He is majorly jealous of Barry. Barry basically got to have the life with Joe and Iris that he should have had.

Yeah that moment you pointed out where Killer shark plays dead was SUPER obvious!

And I was right that Zoom was somehow related to Jay. It was really obvious in the last episode, but the clues have been there for weeks and weeks. I still don't know how there are 3 Jays though as the iron mask guy must be another Jay somehow.

I'm very happy with the way things have worked out here. Tom Cavanagh's Wells has been one of the joys of the series for me, especially in his interactions with the rest of Team Flash. I was very sorry to see what I thought was the end of that dynamic at the end of Season One, and I'm over the moon that they've contrived a way to keep it alive indefinitely.

From here on in I hope Matt Letscher continues to play Reverse-Flash. And the Earth-Two Harrison Wells can stick around as long as he likes as far as I'm concerned.

I saw an interview with Tom Cavanaugh where he discussed the role of Harrison Wells and his opinion of it. He said that when originally offered the role of a brilliant scientist type he refused it. But after he was told that Wells is actually the RF he was excited to take the role. Makes me think maybe we will see a Wells RF again . . .

As long as there's a Wells somewhere prominently on display in the show, I'm a happy puppy \:\)
